SAILS!

2026

From high seas to high fashion.

Reimagining decommissioned sails as ballgowns for Slow Fashion Season 2026.

The Story

Sails were the material we gathered around, and the runway was our use case. Over a series of design sessions, we considered where these sails came from, and how that function had informed what the highly technical textile could do. It was lightweight, durable, and already altered with large metal rings, rope, and lettering. We prototyped rapidly, directly on the body, following our design intuition. What emerged was a series of ballgowns that capture the rough winds and waves of the sea, and give second lives to the materials that let us traverse them.
